About

The show’s aim is to promote and advance traditional agriculture, horticulture, livestock breeding and Arts & Crafts. It is held on the first Sunday in August every year.

About

Sykehouse Show was first held in 1884 and some of the members on the current Committee are descendants of those pioneers.

The Sykehouse Show is held on the first Sunday of August and opens from around 8.30am until 6pm.

The Sykehouse Show Society consists of a committee of around 25 volunteers including the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. A group of a further 20 volunteers kindly assist us on Show Day. If you would like to attend meetings and help with the decision making or help out just on show day please get in touch with us.

A traditional village Agricultural Show, with Classes for Shire horses, Beef Cattle; Commercial and Jacob Sheep; Rare Breeds Sheep, Ponies, Hunters, Unaffiliated Show Jumping and Gymkhana. We have a very busy Arts & Crafts Section and Horticulture and Agriculture Marquee as well. With over twenty Craft Stalls and sixty or so assorted Trade Stands to look round, including rides for children and refreshments, there is something for everyone. Trying to win £100 in the Sheaf Tossing Competition is great fun.

Displays throughout the day around the Showfield vary but may include displays by Andy Brook and his Gun Dog display, the Hawks of Steele from Newark, and the ferrets from Ferret World, most including visitor participation, plus the East Yorkshire Dog Agility Club display and Dog Show – it is all good entertainment.
